  • $15.00 per half hour lesson, for Group Lessons – Minimum of two participants, but usually a maximum of four.

Q2.       How do I apply for Learn to Swim Lessons.

Application forms are available from Blades Café.

Q3.       How are class levels assessed?

Classes are graded into Seven levels:

Turtles 36671
Babies (Turtles) Toddlers (Ducklings)
Goldfish Seashorse
Pre Schoolers (Goldfish) Level 1 (Seahorse)
Dolphin Shark
Level 2 (Dolphins) Level 3 (Sharks)

Initially a child is graded into their lesson based on information provided by a parent/carer at the time of booking.   Following assessment by the Instructor, a child may be recommended to change to another level more suitable to their current skills. Consultation will always take place between the Instructor and Parents/Carers

Q4.       Are all TrinSwim Instructors Qualified?

Yes.

All TrinSwim Instructors are fully qualified.  They must hold a current Austswim Certificate to be employed at TrinSwim.  The majority of our Instructors also hold advanced certificates in Learn to Swim training such as Certificates in Infants in Aquatics, Disabled Learn to Swim and Adult Learn to Swim.  TrinSwim also holds In-service education seminars and our instructors frequently attend training seminars held by the Australian Swimming Teachers Association and Swimming Australia.

Note: The Learn to Swim Programme has been designed and is monitored by Head Coach, Mr Ken Malcolm who is a professional with the following qualifications Level 2 Performance Coach Australian Swimming, Tutor Coach Australian Swimming, Masters Coach and Austswim Assessor.

Mr Malcolm oversees the swimming programmes and conducts regular professional development with the Instructors to ensure their skills are at optimum level.  As soon as swimmers are considered ready to join Mini Squad, either their current Instructor or Mr Malcom will discuss options with them.

Q5.       How do I pay for my child’s Learn to Swim Lessons?

When you book your child into a Learn to Swim Lesson is it for the duration of the school term.  A deposit of $50 is payable on booking.  This deposit guarantees you the time and day of your child’s lesson.  No deposit = no Booking.   The balance is payable on the day of the first lesson.  Deposits and fees may be paid by Eftpos, Credit Card, Cheque or Cash.  A receipt should be obtained for your records.

Note:             Application Forms must be completed each year and bookings confirmed each term.

Q6        Are Make Up Lessons available if my child is unable to attend their lesson due to illness?

Make up lessons will be made available (refer Policy), but a Doctor’s Certificate is required for extended periods of absence.  A credit or Make up Lesson will not be given if your child is unable to attend a lesson as a result of circumstances beyond the control of the Centre e.g. floods etc.

Note:      For health reasons cuts and lesions must be covered before entering the pool. Should your child be suffering with a cold, flu or stomach complaint, it is advisable to keep them home to avoid spreading the virus.  If parents/carers are unsure whether the child should swim, please consult with the Instructor.

In extenuating circumstances where advance notice has been given, Administration will consider options on a case by case basis.

Q7.       Can I change my lesson time and day once I have booked in?

This will only occur if there is a space available in the programme and if no other patron is inconvenienced.  All efforts will be taken to accommodate a change where possible.

Q8.       Am I required to Re-Book my child back into their Learn to Swim Lesson each Term?

Yes.

Q9.       When do I re-Book?

Ideally, you should re-book your child’s lesson anytime during the last three weeks of the current term.  A booking fee of $50.00 must be paid upon enrolment/re-enrolment.

Q10.     Am I guaranteed my child’s current Instructor, day and time of lesson?

All efforts will be taken to keep your child with their current instructor, on the same day and time of lesson.   However, as the lessons are structured on levels, some adjustments may be necessary based on individual skills. Should you wish to change times and day of lessons this may not be possible, but we will endeavour to accommodate where possible.   Early re-bookings are encouraged and please discuss your options with Administration.

Q11.     Do you have Intensive Learn to Swim Programs?

Intensive Learn to Swim programmes are offered most School Holidays, subject to demand. Bookings are essential!

The Intensive Programmes are advertised within the centre and local newspapers approximately three weeks prior to the commencement of School Holidays.

Q12.     What equipment should my child have for Learn to Swim Lessons?

Basic requirements are a cap and goggles.

Q13.     Will I receive feedback on the progress of my child?

Yes, either verbally or in writing if requested.  A Certificate will also be presented to each swimmer at the completion of the term which outlines current abilities.
